I got a pleasant surprise in the mail today...

Anthro remembered my birthday. So dear to my heart.
Reminds me of what is going on here.

I'd like you to meet...

~Mary Teeter~

She is an 88 year old lady who is responsibly for the beautiful art below. Her husband does the distressed framing from old wood. They live in rural Pennsylvania on a farm.

Her creative artwork--inspirational at that--is amazing. I saw her art in Aztec West as I was browsing around Sun Valley a couple weeks ago.

The great thing about art is that different styles and pieces speak differently to each individual. I connected with this work from the moment I saw it. Of course, I gave it a day before I made a decision. Andrew came back with me as a sound mind.

We walked away with our first piece(s) of art. I don't have pics of them yet but I'll post them a bit later.

You can go to her site here. The perennial pieces are the ones she re-produces every year. And then every year she produces new pieces as well.

Here is a few of her many.

It is hard to really grasp it with an image of course. But she uses different fabrics on a soft backing and then outlines and writes the wording with a thick stiching. The buttons are more intricate than they seem. I love the colored stiching holding down the buttons.
No two pieces are alike. That is why I don't want to post pics of mine that aren't actually mine becuase the fabrics are different.

Could you imagine driving down the road with one of these? Something is more appealing about this. I hate having something pushed against my check. This allows for the traditional cheek space.

At last...
Although we've been together the past couple weeks with Drew's reunion and the recent work trip, he really did just get home. I've been waiting for this long enough--2 months.

My heart goes out to our troops and their families who wait for a year +. The strength to endure that is something I can't even begin to comprehend.

If you look close enough you'll notice a few of the candy bars are already eaten. I was having a sugar low while making this. I couldn't resist.

Family Reunion...

I adore Andrew's extended family. His cousins are such a joy to be around. To maintain the close unity they have, they go to Sun Valley every year. The history there is really special.

Andrew's Grandma & Grandpa went there on their honeymoon. They have been back every year (except 1) since--with the growing fam. I think they are on their 58th year or something like that. Last year, each person's t-shirts had a number on the back showing which order you came into the family. I think I was number 68. This year was sweatshirts which was perfect for the cool weather. It was 46 one morning.

Good times...

I recently met up with some old teammates for dinner. We had the best time quoting and rehashing some funny times in practice and on the road. It was good to laugh at some things that weren't so funny at the time.

Lauren was 1 of the 2 freshman with me. She's married now living in CA now. So good to see her again! We were lost freshman at once. It's crazy to see how far we've come and the different routes that have taken us here.

Nothing more beautiful....

the a Palomino Paint. I just love them. They are rare in find. I can probably count how many I've seen in my lifetime. Everything I do so, I consider it a good omen.

A Palomino is one beautiful thing--we (the fam) had an irreplaceable one for over 20 years. But a Palomino Paint presents a completely different beauty I think.

This one is out in a lonely field on the way up to Andrew's cabin. I'm always finding her on our drive there. Recently, she was standing close enough to get a pic. She is usually a spec in the distance. On top of her beauty, she was so kind. She nuzzled her way for some rubs on her face. I adore her.

I saw Nancy Carrigan today...

I'm in Sun Valley for a grande family reunion on my husband's side. There are 60 of us here. Pics to come later.

Sun Valley hosts a great ice show on the weekends. I saw on the event sheet in our room that she was performing this weekend. I will be gone by then. I was bummed cause in '94 when everything went down with Tonya Harding, I was so into it. I was 9 years old then and I loved ice skating and the Olympics.

I wasn't expecting to just see her out and about. But I was thrilled when I did.

It's been 15 years since this pic so naturally she has aged--still fit though. But I still recognized.

When I saw Nancy, I was a bit taken back I must admit. She was walking to her lodge. I just so happened to be walking in that direction--well kinda. I think she knew I was taking a double take. She's got some cute kids I must say.

I watched some You Tube clips of want happened back in the day and read some articles. Ironically so, Tonya Harding ended up being the big looser in the whole ordeal.

She went the boxing route a few years back in fact. I was shocked to read about that.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds...

Andrew is crazy about this player. He had a triple and a home run. I asked Andrew if he was as good as Sammy Sosa. Apparently, I did so too loud--a name not to be mentioned in St. Louis. Sorry~

I had work in Chicago and neighboring areas this week. And thankfully Drew was able to come since he is done with his internship.

We were able to meet up with Angela and Chance to see thier adoreable studio in the heart of the city. We appreciated them treating us to dinner. Angela and I were so close in Provo, it's bitter/sweet to see her so happy in Chicago.

After dinner, we enjoyed all ESPN Zone had to offer.

I had such a good day yesterday...

I took a long walk--with a sweatshirt on might I add--with my mother-in-law and saw beauty like this...

The weather was amazing. It must have been in the 60's.

& went to 'Craft Lake City'. There were about 80 vendors there with some really neat things.

Nichole's booth was a fav for sure. She makes the neates hair flowers and pieces.

Another fav. was 'Vintage Fern.' I now own one of these...

Done at last...

Andrew just called after a great last day of his internship. His team was extremely complementary. Although I was dying on this side of the country, this summer was a huge success.

I'm so proud of how hard he's worked. I can't believe we're done. Hurry home!

Some pics at Disney last summer.
Looking forward to next week's adventure...

Weekend Clips...

This summer's glory moments have been on the weekends. I've never appreciated TGIF more.

July 4th at Waveny Park in CT.

We had our favorite couple friend--no offense to the other couple friends out there; these are just our favorite--come visit us last weekend in CT. It was such a good relaxing weekend.

My brother was in NY some time in June as well. So we were able to meet up in the city. Harold led us in a walking tour. Love the "Harry & Mary's" store. Neat to see our names displayed together...cute vintage store might I add.

Woe is me...

Sorry for the lag time in posts. It's been hectic. I bounced back from the illness and spent the week in Orlando for work and Connecticut with Andrew this weekend.

A lot of good all around, but maxed out at this point and just a mess at that. So bare with me as I get it together...
